The City of Mississauga has launched their Green Tools pilot project which introduces all-electric, battery-powered grass cutting equipment to Parks staff who maintain the parks. Over the next few years, the City will be transitioning grass-cutting equipment to all-electric, battery-powered equipment upon their lifecycle replacements.
The transition to all-electric, battery-powered equipment will reduce carbon emissions, limit noise and increase safety for Parks staff. The new equipment includes two riding zero-turn mowers, a push mower, leaf blowers and trimmers. The project aligns with the City’s Climate Change Action Plan’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050, with the long-term goal of becoming a net-zero community.
The Region of Peel’s Residential Rat Control Subsidy Pilot Program will be available from March 22, 2021 to March 31, 2022 for Peel residents. The pilot program was launched to help qualifying residents that are experiencing rat infestations on the exterior of their property. Residential property owners may be eligible for a 50 per cent subsidy of the cost in hiring a Region of Peel approved pest control vendor, up to a maximum of $200 per calendar year, per residential Peel address.
The pilot program is available from March 22, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Read More
