Temporary Overnight Road Closure of Hurontario Street Between Mineola Road and Inglewood Drive

10 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday, August 9th to Friday, August 13th, 2021

What work is taking place? To accommodate construction of the Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project, watermain and sewer infrastructure installation works are underway on Hurontario Street between Park Street and Mineola Road.

This work will require a temporary overnight closure of Hurontario Street between Mineola Road and Inglewood Drive from Monday August 9 to Friday August 13 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work is being done overnight in order to safely install utility services that cross Hurontario Street, while making the least impact to traffic flow. The road will be re-opened each day at 6 a.m. with steel plates safely covering the excavated areas.

Road closure and detour signs will be posted to keep residents and businesses informed of this closure. Local access to businesses/properties, Transit Service (MiWay and GO Transit) and Emergency Services providers will have access maintained throughout the closure.

TIMING • Hurontario Street overnight closure will be from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday, August 9th to Friday, August 13th, 2021. • Work could be rescheduled and delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC DETAILS • Traffic detour signs will be posted in the area during the road closure. • Watch for slow moving vehicles entering and exiting work areas. • Remember to reduce your speed when approaching construction.

WHAT TO EXPECT? • Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions. • Access to properties will always be maintained through at least one driveway or with the assistance of a traffic control person. • Residents and businesses near the work site can expect to hear noise caused by trucks, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment related to this work.

TRANSIT DETAILS • Due to lane reductions along Hurontario Street, delays can be expected on MiWay routes 2, 8 and 335. One traffic lane will be maintained for transit services and Emergency Services access throughout the overnight temporary closure with the assistance of traffic control persons and Paid Duty Officers. • Watch for additional signs directing passengers at bus stops as boarding areas may be relocated.

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS • Please take care when walking or cycling near construction areas and watch for additional signs directing the public such as detours and dismounting. • Clear and defined walking paths will be maintained during construction to ensure pedestrian safety.

NOISE BYLAW EXEMPTION • In 2017, Mississauga City Council approved general exemptions to the Noise Control By-law and selected roadway closures, at the discretion of the Commissioner of Transportation and Works for the duration of Hurontario LRT construction. • Generally, the exemptions can allow for major construction works to take place from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days per week, and minor activities that generate minimal noise to take place 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
