Proof of vaccination required for youth sports participants 12 and older effective November 1

By Covid-19, Issues, Resources, Ward 1

Brampton, ON. (October 15, 2021) – Effective November 1, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., all participants 12 years and older entering sports or recreational fitness facilities in Peel will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a valid medical exemption, along with identification. This will apply to youth and all coaches, instructors, caregivers, volunteers, and game officials.

This proof of vaccination program is directed under a Letter of Instruction issued by Peel’s Medical Officer of Health.

Beginning November 1, the following documents will be required for every entry into sports facilities:

  • Identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or
  • A valid medical exemption.

Indoor sports venues in Peel Region have been identified as locations of concern which have been driving transmission of COVID-19 over the last few weeks. The Peel program is consistent with other municipalities and will help to protect Peel’s active youth sports community.

Peel Public Health supports a provincial approach to proof of vaccination for youth sports to bring consistency across Ontario.

Residents can get their first or second dose at any Peel clinic.

Vacuum Leaf Collection Program VLCP

By Resources, Ward 1

Please see an update from our Transportation & Works Department –

Please also be advised that the Vacuum Leaf Collection Program (VLCP) is scheduled to start in late October. Streets that qualify for the program will be visited according to the following schedule:

  2021 Vacuum Leaf Pickup
Yellow/Gold Flyer  Blue Flyer  Green Flyer
Oct. 25-29 Nov. 1-5 Nov. 8-12
Nov. 15-19 Nov. 22-26 Nov. 29-Dec. 3
Visit our Vacuum Leaf Collection Route Map online: https://mississauga.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=fcddd6d2a0c349aeacfd2abdba6a024c

This year, 61 streets have been added to the program. Residents eligible for VLCP will receive a postcard in the mail with their collection dates.

Residents are instructed to rake leaves to the boulevard or onto their ditch side by the Sunday prior to their leaf collection dates. Leaves should not be raked onto the road or into the ditch bottom as this can cause catch basins and ditches to become blocked and impact road drainage when it rains.

Residents who miss their leaf pickup, or who have additional leaves to collect after the program has ended, can rake their leaves into open reusable containers or paper yard waste bags and place them curbside for pick up by the Region of Peel on their regular waste collection day until December 10, 2021. This option will ensure collection of their leaves regardless of the weather. This option is also available to residents who do not qualify for the VLCP.
