Recreational Amenities Reopening in Mississauga

On May 20, the Government of Ontario announced that several outdoor recreational amenities will be permitted to reopen in Mississauga starting May 22, 2021.

Outdoor Recreation

Effective Saturday, May 22, the following will be permitted to reopen:

  • Outdoor recreational amenities in Mississauga, including:
    • Golf courses and driving ranges
    • Tennis and basketball courts
    • Baseball diamonds and batting cages
    • Soccer and other sports fields
    • Lawn bowling and bocce
    • Marinas
    • BMX and skate parks

City staff will be preparing to open these amenities over the weekend.

Golf

Reservations for Braeben and Lakeview Golf Course are available for tee times starting this Saturday, May 22. For more information, visit mississauga.ca/golf.

Public Marinas

Credit Village Marina and Lakefront Promenade Arena are preparing to open as of Saturday May 22, 2021.  Boats that are being stored offsite can plan to dock at their respective slips this weekend. Mississauga’s boat transportation contractor will be on-site starting Wednesday May 26 to launch boats currently stored in Lakefront Promenade Marina Storage area and will complete all boat launches by Friday May 28.

Outdoor Gatherings

In addition, the regulations will allow outdoor gatherings up to five people, including outdoor wedding receptions. Wedding ceremonies, religious services and rites are permitted indoors or outdoors with a maximum of 10 people.

Not Permitted

The following amenities or activities are not permitted and remain closed:

  • Outdoor pools and splash pads
  • Team sports may not be played or practiced on fields courts
  • Outdoor fitness classes not permitted

 

 

The community is encouraged to continue to wear a face covering and physical distance appropriately when a safe distance can’t be maintained (two metres/six feet).
