NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION
OGDEN PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Improvements from East of Cawthra Rd to West of Etobicoke Creek

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undertaking improvements of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) from east of Cawthra Road to West of Etobicoke Creek. The project limits are in the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel. MTO has awarded the construction contract to AIMCO INFRASTRUCTURE. Construction commenced in May 2022 and will continue for five construction years, with an anticipated completion in July 2026. Part of the construction includes the replacement of the Ogden Avenue Pedestrian Bridge as indicated on the map below.

Replacement of City of Mississauga’s Ogden Avenue Pedestrian Bridge is planned to commence on March 18th with the removal of the existing structure, following with the construction of the new pedestrian bridge that is anticipated to be completed in late September 2023. Access to, and across the bridge will not be available throughout this period.

The QEW Westbound and Eastbound lanes from Cawthra Road to Etobicoke Creek and Municipal Roads will be affected with temporary lane closures during construction of the Ogden Avenue Pedestrian Bridge.

The closure of both roads will be from 9pm to 10am (currently planned to start on March 18th). Detour routes will be in place and notices for nearby residents and businesses are being delivered by hand. Newspaper articles will also be published and our website www.qewdixie.com will provide this information.

Information related to any resulting significant lane closure events, and construction updates shall be posted on the project website, www.qewdixie.com.

Residents adjacent to the construction project are advised that higher than normal noise levels resulting from construction are anticipated during the scheduled works. Some works will be completed at night and on weekends. Noise mitigation measures pertaining to equipment maintenance and operation will be implemented as part of the contract.

Questions regarding construction may be directed to Mr. Masud Alam, P.Eng., Contract Administrator, GHD Limited, at qewdixie@ghd.com.
