Lace up your shoes, tune up your bikes and let’s get ready to move! The City of Mississauga’s Road Safety Committee and Traffic Safety Council are launching a Let’s Move, Mississauga event during the week of May 18 to 24. Residents of all ages and abilities – including students learning online – are encouraged to get outside and be active, while staying safe and following the rules of the road. During the week-long event, participants in Mississauga are encouraged to walk, jog, wheelchair, cycle or use any other form of active transportation along with members of their household.
Participants can keep track of the distance they travel. At the end of the week, if more than two kilometres have been travelled, the participant can complete a digital certificate online to highlight their accomplishment. Participants can take a picture with the certificate to share on social media using the hashtag #LetsMoveSauga.
The City is advising all participants to follow health and safety COVID-19 guidelines by staying at least two metres (six feet) apart from those not in their household and wearing a mask when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
