On April 4, 2025, Chief Nishan Duraiappah, Chair Nando Iannicca and Catherine Murray – former senior anchor and host of BNN Bloomberg – officially launched The Peel Police Foundation, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to raising charitable funds in support of community partners across Peel Region.
As the region continues to grow, many community organizations and partners do not have the funding and support to meet increasing demands. Guided by the Community Safety and Well-Being framework, the foundation will support innovative public-police solutions to address societal challenges. The foundation will work closely with community partners to expand programs and services that directly address critical issues Peel Police sees within the community such as mental health, addiction, homelessness, youth engagement, and intimate partner violence.
The foundation will be managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and led by Chair Catherine Murray, who has extensive experience in institutional sales, trading and equity research. Catherine is also a highly sought-after speaker and moderator, who has made significant contributions and built strong connections within the Peel community.
