Local school-based pop-up locations in Peel offer expanded options for COVID-19 vaccine to youth.

Beginning Saturday June 5, 2021, youth in Peel can receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at a variety of familiar school pop-up locations. Walk-in appointments are available for youth enrolled in special education programs, or youth seeking a different environment from a mass clinic experience.
Planning was completed in consultation with school boards in Peel. Second doses will be provided at the same location in August. Read More

The City of Mississauga will be redeveloping the Carmen Corbasson Community Centre starting in 2022, to ensure the programs and services offered continues to meet the needs of the community. This facility was originally built in 1972, and had an expansion in 2002.
Provisions of this exciting redevelopment will include the following:
• 6 lane, 25 metre indoor aquatics centre and therapeutic (warm water) tank
• Equipment based fitness centre and studio
• Multi-purpose program space
• Improved site circulation
• Cosmetic and functional upgrades on existing spaces (arenas, gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, walking track)
Artistic representations of the building are for conceptual use only
and are subject to withdrawal and revisions.

Today, Mississauga kicks off a month of activities and virtual events to celebrate Pride Month in Peel.
“Equity, diversity and inclusion are core priorities for our City. Pride Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Mississauga such a great place to live, work and play, and also demonstrates our strong support for our 2SLGBTQ+ community,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “I value the work of everyone who contributes to the diverse makeup of our vibrant and welcoming city. We are thrilled to host an array of Pride activities throughout the month of June that residents can safely enjoy. We are pleased to announce that our 2021 Luso Virtual Volta will take place from June 10 to July 18, 2021. Volta is an individual or team challenge to walk, run, cycle or ride to raise awareness and funds for persons living with physical and/or developmental disabilities.
2021 Virtual Volta is dedicated to Hazel McCallion in celebration of her 100th birthday. A Mississauga legend, she has been a champion for persons living with disabilities ongoing. Luso is honoured to name this event in recognition of her continuous support and lifelong commitment to those most vulnerable in our community.

Bike Month is an annual event celebrated from May 31 through June 30 across Peel Region that offers many opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to try biking for the first time and explore the growing network of bike routes throughout Peel.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, riding a bike continues to be a safe mode of transportation for essential workers and others making essential trips. It’s also a healthy way to explore your community while getting some exercise. Read More

The Region of Peel advises residents that the spring garbage exemption period (originally scheduled from June 14-25) is suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to minimize manual collection and ensure worker safety, while maintaining services for the long term. Read More
Please take a moment to sign the petition to urge the Province of Ontario to ban modified mufflers that create excessive noise
I recently put forward a motion at both the City of Mississauga and Peel Regional Council to ask the Province to enact further amendments to the Highway Traffic Act to directly target loud and modified exhaust systems.
Vehicle noise from street racing and aggressive driving go hand in hand. That, combined with modified emission control systems can create the “perfect storm” for vehicle noise related issues.
