The City of Mississauga will be redeveloping the Carmen Corbasson Community Centre starting in 2022, to ensure the programs and services offered continues to meet the needs of the community. This facility was originally built in 1972, and had an expansion in 2002.

Provisions of this exciting redevelopment will include the following:
• 6 lane, 25 metre indoor aquatics centre and therapeutic (warm water) tank
• Equipment based fitness centre and studio
• Multi-purpose program space
• Improved site circulation
• Cosmetic and functional upgrades on existing spaces (arenas, gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, walking track)
Artistic representations of the building are for conceptual use only
and are subject to withdrawal and revisions.

Today, Mississauga kicks off a month of activities and virtual events to celebrate Pride Month in Peel.

Pride Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Mississauga such a great place to live, work and play, and also demonstrates our strong support for our 2SLGBTQ+ community,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “I value the work of everyone who contributes to the diverse makeup of our vibrant and welcoming city. We are thrilled to host an array of Pride activities throughout the month of June that residents can safely enjoy. Discover the joy of biking during Bike Month

Bike Month is an annual event celebrated from May 31 through June 30 across Peel Region that offers many opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to try biking for the first time and explore the growing network of bike routes throughout Peel.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, riding a bike continues to be a safe mode of transportation for essential workers and others making essential trips. It’s also a healthy way to explore your community while getting some exercise. Read More

Mississauga’s Older Adult Expo Offers Online Activities for Older Adults

Mark your calendars for the 2021 Older Adult Expo. June is Seniors Month in Ontario – a time to recognize Mississauga’s older adults and the contributions they have made to their community. The City of Mississauga is celebrating by dedicating the entire month of June to the older adult community by offering free, informative webinars on weekdays to residents ages 55 and up. Webinars are a blend of both live and pre-recorded sessions.

This year’s expo begins on Tuesday, June 1 and the theme is Stay Safe, Active and Connected. Read More

Get to Know your Neighbourhood by Bike with Self-Guided Community Rides

Starting Saturday, May 29, the City of Mississauga will begin to roll out a number of self-guided bike routes across the city with the return of its Community Rides program. The Community Rides program encourages residents, families and those new to cycling to explore their neighbourhood by bike and get outdoor exercise. This year, the City will mark out bike routes across Mississauga so that residents of all ages and cycling abilities can enjoy a route in their neighbourhood either solo or with their household, while following COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. Let’s show isolated seniors in Peel how much they matter by sponsoring a gift of a creative care package this June

June is Seniors Month and the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is challenging you to support an isolated senior in Peel by sponsoring a gift of a creative care package.

PAMA has joined the Great Canadian Giving Challenge organized through Canada Helps to raise funds to support local isolated seniors in Peel. Every $1 donated in June is a chance for PAMA to win $20,000 which would go toward building even more robust seniors programming. Read More

Have Your Say – Does Mississauga Need an Apartment Building Standards and Maintenance Program?

Mississauga has a number of property-related by-laws that detail the requirements for maintaining rental apartment buildings and other properties across the city. Staff are currently assessing the need for an Apartment Building Standards and Maintenance Program similar to the City of Toronto’s RentSafeTO program. Read More
