City of Mississauga Update: Government of Ontario Maintains COVID-19 Restrictions Until Step One of Roadmap to Reopen Takes Effect

Yesterday, the Government of Ontario announced that all public health and workplace measures will remain in effect until Step One of the province’s Roadmap to Reopen is rolled out.

“I want to thank all Mississauga residents for doing their part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by following the health and safety guidelines in place, and for getting vaccinated,” says Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Our staff are busy ramping up to prepare for more activities to open in the coming weeks. We’ve come such a long way – I am hopeful knowing that the reopening framework is on the horizon. Keep it up, Mississauga!”

The City of Mississauga is preparing to reopen outdoor dining, outdoor fitness classes and pools when the Government of Ontario enters Step One of the Roadmap to Reopen. Until then, Mississauga residents are asked to continue to follow all public health measures put in place. The City continues to offer many online recreational activities for all ages and the following services are currently available:

While many of our outdoor recreational amenities are open, residents are reminded that team sports are not permitted at this time and gatherings (with those outside of your household) must be limited to five. The following outdoor recreational amenities in Mississauga are open:

  • Spray pads
  • Baseball diamonds and batting cages
  • Lawn bowling and bocce
  • Golf courses and driving ranges
  • Tennis and basketball courts
  • Soccer and other sports fields
  • BMX and skate parks
