City of Mississauga to Enter Step Three on July 16

Effective Friday, July 16 at 12:01 a.m., the City of Mississauga will enter Step Thee of the province’s Roadmap to Reopen. Step Three permits indoor dining and fitness, and larger indoor and outdoor gatherings.

“I am extremely happy to see more of our city reopening, our businesses coming back to life and our residents returning to normal everyday activities,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Over the past several months, Mississauga residents have done their part to get us to Step Three. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has followed public health advice to get us to this point. Mississauga is strong and ready.”

In Step Three the following is permitted:

  • Outdoor social gatherings and organized public events with up to 100 people with limited exceptions
  • Indoor social gatherings and organized public events with up to 25 people
  • Indoor religious services, rites or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services permitted with physical distancing
  • Indoor dining with no limits on the number of patrons per table with physical distancing
  • Indoor sports, culture and recreational fitness facilities subject to a maximum 50 per cent capacity of the indoor space. Capacity for indoor spectators is 50 per cent of the usual seating capacity or 1,000 people, whichever is less. Capacity for outdoor spectators is 75 per cent of the usual seating capacity or 15,000 people, whichever is less.
  • Indoor meeting/event spaces with physical distancing and other restrictions and capacity limited to 50 per cent capacity or 1,000 people, (whichever is less)
  • Essential and non-essential retail with capacity limited to the number of people that can maintain physical distance
  • Personal care services, including services requiring the removal of a face covering, with capacity limited to the number of people that can maintain physical distance
  • Museums, galleries, historic sites, aquariums, zoos, landmarks, botanical gardens, science centres, casinos/bingo halls, amusement parks, fairs and rural exhibitions, festivals, with capacity limited to 50 per cent indoors and 75 per cent outdoors
  • Concert venues, cinemas and theatres permitted to operate with capacity limits
  • Drive-in and drive through events
  • Real estate open houses with capacity limited to the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two metres; and
  • Indoor food or drink establishments where dance facilities are provided, up to 25 per cent capacity or up to a maximum limit of 250 people (whichever is less)

Face coverings in indoor public settings and physical distancing requirements remain in place throughout Step Three.

City Services Update

The City of Mississauga is preparing city services to re-open or expand capacity based on the framework provided by the Province.

  • All major community centres will open for general access on July 19 with front desk operations resuming on or before July 28.  Reservations continue to be required for drop-in programming.
    • Indoor arenas will open for rentals as of July 19
    • Fitness centres open July 21
    • Meeting rooms and gymnasiums open for rentals as of July 26
    • Indoor pools and instructional drop-in programs resume July 28

  • Cultural facilities will be open for indoor and outdoor permits as of July 19, with updates on programs and services are available at mississauga.ca/
