Announced at Budget Committee on June 21, the City has been awarded the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for the 2019 Annual Financial Report Highlights from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the fourth year in a row. The award recognizes the City’s strong ability to produce a high-quality popular annual financial report that is easy to read and understand and is accessible to the residents who may only have a basic understanding of finance.
“This prestigious award recognizes our continued effort to provide residents fiscally sound and transparent financial data,” said Shari Lichterman, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “I would like to congratulate Mayor and Council and our City team on this award and specifically congratulate and recognize the contribution of City staff in Finance and Strategic Communications who were involved in the development of the City’s 2019 Financial Annual Report Highlights.”
In May 2021, the City also received the GFOA’s Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for excellence in financial reporting for its 2019 Annual Financial Report.
