Construction Notice – WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE Watermain Replacement and Improvement -1435 Hurontario Street

By Resources, Ward 1

The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Thursday May 11th, 2023, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

Property owner/manager responsibilities during a water interruption
As a property owner/manager, it is your responsibility to:
• Ensure maintenance, mechanical or plumbing staff are on site during the water interruption, as it may affect internal systems that rely on water such as boilers, fire suppression, and alarms.
• Notify the fire alarm company if the interruption could affect an alarm system.
• Have a fire watch completed during the water interruption, as the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function when the water supply is shut off.

After the water interruption
When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise. We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor, and finishing on the top floor). You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds. Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note
After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking the water meter (usually located in the basement). If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:
• 905-791-7800, extension 3226 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday to Friday)
• 905-791-7800 extension 4409 (after hours or statutory holidays)

LRT Construction Notice – New Water Service Connections to all Properties between Mineola Road to Pinetree Way

By Hurontario LRT, Ward 1

New Water Service Connections to all Properties between Mineola Road to Pinetree Way

May 3, 2023 to May 31, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What work is taking place?
As utility upgrades progress in the area, crews will be connecting all properties along Hurontario Street, between Mineola and Pinetree Way, to the new watermain infrastructure that has recently been installed along the road alignment. The work is expected to take place as early as May 3 and will last approximately one month to May 31. Crews will be working Monday to Saturday, starting at 7 a.m. each day. Some overnight work will be required at the direction of the Region of Peel for temporary water service disruptions during the connections.

All the connection points are within the municipal right of way. Most of the connection points are located within the municipal side of existing driveways or the public boulevard. To make these connections, crews will need to excavate a small area up to the property line. As a result, there may be temporary impacts to water service, driveway access, and lawns/trees/hedging that are in direct conflict with the connection points. All impacted driveways will be temporarily restored using hot mix asphalt until permanent restoration takes place with final grading and re-surfacing. Any disruption to lawns/trees/ hedging will be reinstated during the final landscaping phase of the project. Individual property owners/managers directly impacted will be notified by the Region of Peel in advance of the impacts specific to their water service connection.

All works will be carried out in accordance with the Ontario Municipalities Act for the purposes of providing a water public utility with respect to accessing private property as needed. For more information on this Act please visit the government of Ontario webpage on public utilities at https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/01m25#BK89
