Notice of Construction – Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Improvements from East of Cawthra Road to West of Etobicoke Creek

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undertaking improvements of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) from east of Cawthra Road to West of Etobicoke Creek. The project limits are in the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel. MTO has awarded the construction contract to AIMCO. Construction is expected to start in May 2022 and continue for five construction years and be completed in July 2026.

Key Components of the construction contract include:
• Replacement of the Dixie Road underpass Bridge & Reconfiguration of the QEW/Dixie Road Interchange.
• Replacement of City of Mississauga’s Ogden Avenue Pedestrian Bridge.
• Replacement and twinning of Applewood Creek Culvert.
• Localized QEW widening to accommodate operational and safety improvements.
• Construction of new extension of Brentano Blvd to match existing grade on Dixie.
• Drainage improvements including new storm sewer systems, culverts and two new stormwater management ponds and one micro-pond. Watermain and Sanitary Sewer works.
• Installation of new retaining walls and noise barriers.
• Installation and upgrades to lighting.
• Replacement of Overhead Sign Structures (OHSS).
• Landscaping.
• QEW pavement rehabilitation from east of Cawthra Road to Etobicoke Creek.

The QEW Westbound and Eastbound lanes from Cawthra Road to Etobicoke Creek and Municipal roads will be affected with temporary lane closures during construction.
Residents adjacent to the construction project are advised that higher than normal noise levels resulting from construction are anticipated during the scheduled works. Some works will be completed at night and on weekends. Noise mitigation measures pertaining to equipment maintenance and operation will be implemented as part of the contract. 2022 Civic Awards of Recognition

Good afternoon,

Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Members of Council will host the 2022 Civic Awards of Recognition ceremony in the coming months at the Mississauga Civic Centre.

If you know a Mississauga resident and/or local community group that has excelled in sports or the arts, or who has volunteered in the community for more than 10 years, please submit their name for this honour.

Visit the City’s website to read the criteria and fill out the online nomination form.You can also submit nominations by email to civicrecognition.program@mississauga.ca.

The deadline for nominations is Friday June 10, 2022 at 4 p.m.

Nominations will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Due to the number of seats available in Council Chamber, we will only consider the first 100 nominees so be sure to send in your nominations early!

Construction Notice: Port Credit Memorial Playground Rubber Replacement

Please be advised that work on the playground rubber replacement at Port Credit Memorial Park will commence today, Thursday May 26th.

Construction will take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.  The playground will be closed to accommodate construction activities and will re-open by Friday, June 24th.

Alternate playground locations include:

Community Park Playgrounds

  • JC Saddington  – 53 Lake St. (1.2km walking distance / 1.5km driving distance)
  • Hiawatha Park – 76 Cumberland Dr. (1.6km walking distance / 1.8km driving distance)
  • Richard’s memorial Park – 804 Lakeshore Rd W. (2.7km driving distance)

Service disruption signs will be erected today when the construction fencing is erected.

Aerial Spray Program Begins Saturday May 28

Update: May 26, 2022

Aerial spraying will begin on Saturday, May 28 at approximately 5 a.m., and will take 2-3 hours to complete.

The targeted spray zones for Saturday, May 28 include: Spray Zone A, and portions of Spray Zone D and E. If your property or neighbourhood is in Spray Zone D and E, spraying for round one will take place over multiple days to minimize road closures and traffic interruptions.

Check the interactive map to find out if your neighbourhood is in a designated spray zone.

City of Mississauga Update: Storm Clean-Up

Storm clean-up is still underway across most of Mississauga. The City has received more than 500 calls reporting damage to trees which continue to be responded to on a priority basis. Based on call volumes, storm clean-up will take several weeks.

The safety of residents and City crews remains a key priority and residents are asked to be mindful of their surroundings as damaged tree limbs can pose a safety hazard. The City is asking residents to conduct a visual check of their homes and surroundings and report any damage to city-owned trees or infrastructure to 311. Read More

Film Notice: Sphere Sort of 2 Inc

Please note that the above will be filming exterior scenes for a TV series “Sort Of” at 2337 Harcourt Crescent (Ward 1) on May 20th between the hours of 7:00am-12:00 midnight. Prep will be conducted on May 19th, 7:00am-7:00pm and wrap on May 21st, 7:00am-7:00pm.

A permit has been granted to allow parking on the following:

  • One side of Harcourt Crescent between Barlett Lane and (approx.) 2301 Harcourt Crescent
  • One side of Linby Street between Harcourt Crescent and Duchess Drive

Camera equipment on the roadway, boulevard and sidewalk has also been permitted on Harcourt Crescent as long as two-way traffic is maintained at all times and to allow maximum 3-minute traffic stoppages under the supervision of Peel Regional Police not between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00am and 4:00 – 6:00pm.

Affected residents at both locations have been informed of these activities via notification letter. A release form survey was sent to residents with less than 34% objecting in order to allow:

  • Afterhours vehicle movement (before 7am, or after 11pm)
  • Filming to exceed two (2) occurrences within the year on a residential block
  • Lighting and/or generators to be oriented toward neighbouring residences
