Peel Region is planning to install new watermains in your area within the next two years, as shown on the attached map. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment plants to your neighbourhood. As our population grows, we need to build larger watermains to keep providing high quality water services.

Important note
This upcoming construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way and within permanent easements.
• The municipal right-of way includes the street and the land owned by your city between the street and your water service box (small, round metal valve in either your driveway or lawn).
• An easement is where Peel Region has obtained legal access to enter your property for the purposes of maintaining and improving Regional infrastructure.

This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We therefore recommend delaying any major landscaping or driveway paving until after this construction has been completed.

Before construction begins
Before we start construction, you may notice several activities in your area:
1. We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags to mark the location of underground gas, hydro, and cable on roads, driveways, and lawns.
2. We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way (the land between the street and your water service box) to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations.
3. We will take pictures and record video to help us restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
We expect these activities to take place between May 2024 and December 2024.

Keeping you informed
We are currently in the early planning stages, so we can’t give exact dates for when we will do the work.
In addition, as your city’s future planning activities may change, we may alter our plans to improve watermains in your neighbourhood. We will deliver more detailed information to your home or business closer to the proposed construction date.

SCHEDULED WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE

The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Thursday, May 16^th from approximately 9:00am to 5:00 pm.  If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

If this interruption may affect an alarm or maintenance company, it is your responsibility to notify them.  During the time that the water supply is interrupted, the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function.  A fire watch should be performed as necessary during time period.

After the water interruption:

When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise.  We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor and finishing on the top floor). Flush the toilets as well. You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds.  Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note:  After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking your water meter (usually located in the basement).  If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

• (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 3226 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday to Friday)
• (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 4409 (After hours or Statutory Holidays)

Please be advised, Cawthra Road stop #0746 scheduled stop impact has been adjusted and will be out of service from Saturday May 25 to Sunday May 26th for construction work.

Patrons will be directed to the previous stop #0763 at Tedwyn Drive (NW Corner) which is approximately 225 metres north.

Stop #0764 is serviced by Route 8 South with continued accessible bus service at stop #0763.

Please be advised that stop #1191 on EB Dundas Street East at Jarrow Avenue will be back in service effective 8:00am Wednesday May 8.

Also, please be advised that the next stop #0864 on EB Dundas Street East at Mattawa Avenue will be out of service effective 8:00am Wednesday May 8 until further notice for construction tunnelling works.

Patrons will be directed to stop #1191 at Jarrow Avenue which is approximately 240 metres west.

Stop #0864 is serviced by Route 1/1C East with continued accessible bus service at Stop #1191.
