Region of Peel Christmas tree collection starts next week

By Issues, Resources, Ward 1

January 3, 2023

From January 9 to 19, the Region of Peel will be collecting real Christmas trees and wreaths at the curb on select days.

To set out for collection, residents should ensure that:

  • Trees taller than 3 m. (10 ft.) are cut in half
  • All plastic bags, ornaments, tinsel, nails, wire, and tree stands are removed
  • Trees are not placed in, on or behind snowbanks

If you live in an apartment or condo, the trees are set at the curb by the driveway entrance to the property, and that trees do not obstruct the road or sidewalk.

Residents who miss their collection can also take their Christmas trees to a Community Recycling Centre (CRC) in January. Trees taller than 3 m. (10 ft.) must be cut in half to be accepted. Please remove all tinsel, ornaments, plastic bags, nails, wires, and tree stands from your tree before bringing it to a CRC.

Residents are also encouraged to use the 2023 Waste Collection Calendar, or sign up to receive free weekly collection reminders.

Dear Resident,

Re: Ward 1 – Community Virtual Meeting

579-619 Lakeshore Road East and 1022, 1028 Caven Street

The City of Mississauga has received a development application from Star Seeker Inc., 619 Lakeshore Inc., 1022 Caven Inc., and 1028 Caven Inc.  The proposal is to redevelop 579 – 619 Lakeshore Road East (Shoppers Drug Mart Plaza and neighbouring commercial building) as well as two adjacent residential properties at 1022 Caven Street and 1028 Caven Street.

In order to implement their plans, the applicant is proposing Official Plan Amendment and Rezoning applications to permit two 6 storey buildings with ground floor commercial uses on Lakeshore Road East and three 16 storey residential towers in the interior of the property.

The community virtual meeting I am hosting is being held to provide residents with more information and to have a transparent discussion on the proposed development.

We have arranged a Virtual Meeting on Tuesday, December 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you wish to attend and participate in the discussions, please find the webex call-in details below:
