The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off from Thursday July 20th at 9 p.m. to Friday July 21st,2023 at 7 a.m. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

Property owner/manager responsibilities during a water interruption

As a property owner/manager, it is your responsibility to:
•Ensure maintenance, mechanical or plumbing staff are on site during the water interruption, as it mayaffect internal systems that rely on water such as boilers, fire suppression, and alarms.
•Notify the fire alarm company if the interruption could affect an alarm system.
•Have a fire watch completed during the water interruption, as the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function when the water supply is shut off.

After the water interruption
When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise. We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor, and finishing on the top floor). You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds. Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note
After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking the water meter (usually located in the basement). If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:
•905-791-7800, extension 3226 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday to Friday)
•905-791-7800 extension 4409 (after hours or statutory holidays)

Keeping you informed
We will let you know if there are any major changes to the plans.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality tap water.

TRCA Notification: Invasive Species Management at Arsenal Lands

By Parks, Resources, Ward 1

TRCA strategically manages invasive plant species at specific restoration project sites throughout our jurisdiction. Working closely with their partners, TRCA follows best management practices including integrated pest management that uses a variety of preventative and non-chemical pest management strategies (e.g., continuous mowing to suppress growth, spading, solarizing, and composting) which aligns with TRCA’s Invasive Species Management Strategy. Depending on the severity of the infestation and the plant species, herbicide application is often the best management option that allows restoration of the landscape using native plant species.

This summer they will be applying herbicide to manage invasive Phragmites (Phragmites australis) in the Arsenal Lands (Closest Address: Lakeshore Dr E & Dixie Road, Mississauga, Small Arms Inspection Building) to achieve the larger objective of invasive species management throughout the Peel Region Parks. Using licensed applicators, these species will be treated with herbicide (Habitat Aqua – PCP #32374) following all applicable legislation. Standard regulatory signage will be installed in the treatment area before it occurs and will be removed once management efforts have been completed. Invasive control assessments and necessary adaptive management activities will occur in the coming seasons to further improve the site’s biodiversity.

Spraying will take place between July 24 and August 18. You can find a map of the spray sites below:

Should you have any questions or concerns about this work, please do not hesitate to contact Chris Cormack, Project Manager, Ecosystem Management chris.cormack@trca.ca.

Upcoming opportunities to have your say this summer

By Issues

Do you have ideas and opinions on the projects that are transforming the City? Community engagement is important to us. There are many ways to get involved and work together to plan and shape Mississauga’s future.

Upcoming opportunities

Updating the Climate Change Action Plan

The City’s Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) is a 10-year road map for tackling the impacts of our changing climate. The plan currently includes the goal of reducing Mississauga’s Greenhouse Gas emissions by 40 per cent by 2030, and 80 per cent by 2050.

The City is looking for your input on Mississauga’s climate targets and implementation pathways. Complete the online survey before Thursday, August 31. After completing the survey, you’ll have the chance to be entered into a draw for one of 10 $100 pre-loaded Presto Cards.

What’s in a name?

The names of our streets, community centres, parks etc. help tell our City’s story. Naming these is an honour and should be taken seriously. That is why we are reviewing our naming policies and processes to ensure we have an equitable, diverse and inclusive approach to naming these assets.

We want to hear from everyone and especially those from the South Asian, Black, Indigenous or other racialized communities that call Mississauga home.

Your input matters so please take the time to complete the online survey (open from Tuesday, July 4 to Saturday, September 30) or look for our community engagement facilitators at various City facilities (July 10 to August 30). You can visit the website to see the schedule of when they’ll be in your neighbourhood. After completing the survey, you’ll have the chance to be entered into a draw to win an iPad.

Mississauga remains committed to building a strong, more inclusive and accessible city where community stories are authentically documented and shared.
