The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.
Your water will be turned off on Friday, December 1st, from approximately 5:00 am to 5:30 am. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.
If this interruption may affect an alarm or maintenance company, it is your responsibility to notify them. During the time that the water supply is interrupted, the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function. A fire watch should be performed as necessary during time period.
After the water interruption:
When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise. We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor and finishing on the top floor). Flush the toilets as well. You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds. Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.
Important note: After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking your water meter (usually located in the basement). If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

The City of Mississauga is thrilled to share that the Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) has selected Mississauga to be the host city for the CMAOntario Festival and Awards in 2024 and 2026.

CMAO has partnered with Visit Mississauga and the City of Mississauga to bring a weekend of live music, concerts and activities to the city from May 31 to June 2, 2024, with a spectacular awards show planned for Sunday, June 2 at the Living Arts Centre.

Earlier this year, Mississauga was named the 2023 Music City of the Year and was recognized for its efforts in establishing a Music Strategy with a goal of positioning the city as an incubator for top musical talent and national destination for live music events and festivals.
In 2022, the City announced its first Music Strategy: 2022-2026, which identifies 32 actions over the next five years to support the growth and development of Mississauga’s music industry. It focuses on four guiding principles, which include amplifying Mississauga’s artists, creating a favourable environment for live music, supporting underrepresented people and groups, and celebrating Mississauga’s history and success.

As part of the Queen Elizabeth Way improvement from east of Cawthra Road to West of Etobicoke Creek, the contractor will be replacing Ogden pedestrian bridge over South Service Road which will require the closure.
- MiWay will be detouring their transit services.
This work is planned to occur between 10 pm on Saturday December 2nd and 9 am on Sunday December 3rd.
During the closure, Emergency Services (Fire, Police & Ambulance) will NOT be maintained.
Variable Message Signs have been installed in advance of the closure and MTO has advertised the planned QEW closure.

Overview
The Parks Operations team performs winter maintenance that includes clearing snow and de-icing in;
4-season parking lots,
Community centres, arenas, libraries and/or banquet facilities
Trails and walkways that serve a transportation link for local communities (e.g. trails, walkways and easements to school boundaries).
When snow will be cleared
The size and intensity of the storm will dictate the time required to treat and clear facilities, parking lots and pathways. The City plows when five centimetres of snow or more accumulates. If there is less than five centimetres of snow, locations are salted.

When experiencing back to back storms, (e.g. over consecutive days), or significant weather events, timelines as outlined above may be extended.
In extreme weather conditions, the City may declare a significant weather event. During a significant weather event, the timing for winter maintenance crews to clear the snow resets when the event is over.
Winter salt and brine
The City uses rock salt, or sodium chloride, to clear parking lots, front entrances, pathways, easements and sidewalks. In anticipation of a snow event, the City may use brine to pre-treat priority locations; such as community centres and arena parking lots, a few days ahead of the incoming event. Brine is solution of water and salt, and is sprayed on the parking lots which makes it harder for ice to form, and makes parking lots easier to plow.
Parking Lot Closures
Seasonal parking lots (including gravel lots and lots adjacent to seasonal facilities) are closed during the winter period.
Parking lots are closed prior to the first significant snowfall. Signs will be posted notifying the public of the closure.
Winter Service Levels for Sanitation
During the winter season, seasonal sanitation containers are removed from permitted sports fields and permanent bins are relocated to entrances to ensure they are serviceable throughout the winter season.
