SCHEDULED WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE

By Resources, Ward 1

INTERRUPTION DETAILS

Date and Time:  Thursday, December 7th, from 9:00 am to 5:00pm

Location: 2154 Primate Rd

Addresses Affected: 2087-2179 Primate Rd; 2132-2152 Dixie Rd; 1329 Wealthy Pl

Project #: C-603446

Regional Inspector:  Phemelo Mpoloka

Telephone #   437-220-8917

                        905-791-7800 ext. 3246/3247

The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Thursday, December 7th, from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

If this interruption may affect an alarm or maintenance company, it is your responsibility to notify them.  During the time that the water supply is interrupted, the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function.  A fire watch should be performed as necessary during time period.

After the water interruption:

When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise.  We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor and finishing on the top floor). Flush the toilets as well. You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds.  Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note:  After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking your water meter (usually located in the basement).  If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

  • (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 3226 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday to Friday)
  • (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 4409 (After hours or Statutory Holidays)

Approving Units Must Lead to Building Units

By Planning & Development

I am pleased to hear the Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister, Paul Calandra is looking at addressing time lines for getting shovels in the ground after building applications have been approved.

Currently there are approximately 80,000 existing and ‘As of Right’ (no zoning changes need to be made) units available across the city, that could house approximately 244,000 people. At this time there is no sunset clause or tools available to encourage the expeditious development of those properties.

I would like to share one example, of many.  In my Ward, there are 400 units that were approved on a piece of property 31 years ago, with no permit to date ever filed to be built.  This is the issue that needs to be addressed…how to get shovels in the ground faster.

I look forward to hearing more on the “use it or lose it” (Sunset Clause) from the Ministry in the spirit of collaboration in working towards getting shovels in the ground faster once applications are, in fact, approved.

New Cookbook From The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre

By Announcement, Food for thought, Ward 1

Back in 2021, The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre released their first ever Compass Cookbook in time for Christmas and sold over 575 copies!

From the feedback received, they made great gifts and since then the recipes have been cooked in kitchens far and wide.

The same group of wonderful volunteers who put together that first cookbook have now produced a new one that’s been printed and is ready to sell. “All Roads Lead to Sweet Treats” is exactly what it sounds like. You can now purchase a beautiful spiral-bound 104-page collection of sweet treats for your baking pleasure.

Thanks to our incredible printers at Options Mississauga, they are able to offer this second masterpiece at the same price as the first, only $20 per copy. No price increase, same outstanding quality cookbook.

As before, you can buy for yourself, as gifts for others, as well as purchase some to donate to our clients.

Order yours now by clicking on the button below. If you prefer, you can pay by cash or cheque at our office or you can send an e-transfer to treasurer@thecompass.ca but please mark “cookbooks” in the notes.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Make your purchase in time for the holidays. These are great gifts for teachers, colleagues, neighbours, your book club, family, friends and more.

All proceeds go to support The Compass Food Bank.
