Location: 410 Jumna Ave

Addresses Affected: 362-417 Jumna Ave; 1207, 1225 Mineola Gardens; 1200 Canterbury Rd.

                        905-791-7800 ext. 3246/3247

The Region of Peel Public Works department regularly maintains and repairs the water system to make sure you have a consistent supply of quality drinking water. Sometimes we must turn off your water supply while we do this work.

Your water will be turned off on Thursday, January 18th, from approximately 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other circumstances, we will let you know the new date and time.

If this interruption may affect an alarm or maintenance company, it is your responsibility to notify them.  During the time that the water supply is interrupted, the building’s sprinkler protection system will not function.  A fire watch should be performed as necessary during time period.

After the water interruption:

When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise.  We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps from the lowest to the highest faucet in the building (that is, starting in the basement/first floor and finishing on the top floor). Flush the toilets as well. You will likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds.  Run the water until it is clear, and any vibration or noise has stopped.

Important note:  After the water is turned back on, we recommend checking your water meter (usually located in the basement).  If it is leaking, call Water Meter Installations Dispatch at:

  • (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 3226 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday to Friday)
  • (905) 791 – 7800 Ext. 4409 (After hours or Statutory Holidays)

Dixie Outlet Mall Policy Review – Have Your Say

By Planning & Development, Ward 1

HAVE YOUR SAY

The City of Mississauga’s Planning and Building Department is undertaking a land use review of the Dixie Outlet Mall site to help guide redevelopment. The City’s review will focus on key elements to achieve a complete community and set a policy framework to inform an official plan amendment. It will consider opportunities for new roads, pedestrian connections, transit supportive development, parks, a mix of land uses, including affordable housing and non-residential uses. The review will also consider heights that are of an appropriate development scale within the Lakeview neighbourhood area.

The City’s review of the lands is occurring simultaneously with a development application that has been submitted to the City in December 2022 by Slate Asset Management. The owner is proposing to demolish a portion of the mall and build five residential apartments in the northwest portion of the site. The site where the grocery store is located is owned by Choice Properties and no application has been made to the City. Under the Planning Act, the City is required to process a development application and within certain timelines. The City will work in collaboration with the property owners in coordinating the policy and the development application reviews. To find more information on the development application, file OZ/OPA 22-32 (1250 South Service Road) please click here.

Streetsville Heritage Conservation District

We are approaching the end of Phase 1 of the Streetsville Heritage Conservation District Study. The consulting team has completed an evaluation of the study area. It has been determined that the study area includes property which meets the legislated criteria for identifying a potential Heritage Conservation District under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act. A recommended Heritage Conservation District boundary has been identified.

Now that data has been collected and recommendations are being drafted, we are looking to the community for input. Information provided to the consultants at the upcoming community meeting will feed into a report prepared by the Consultants. This report will be brought forward to Council in late winter 2024 to determine whether or not the study should proceed to Phase 2.

Join us at our next community meeting:

Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 7 p.m.
Vic Johnston Community Centre
Hazel McCallion Hall
335 Church Street, Mississauga

Upcoming NAV CANADA Flight Checks: First semi-annual test

By Announcement

NAV Canada regularly conducts instrument landing system (ILS) check at Toronto Pearson. This is a routine operation that ensures the accuracy and safety of the country’s navigation aids and instrument approach procedures. The ILS is a precision approach system that provides navigational guidance signals and information on a cockpit display to guide pilots accurately to the point of landing in periods of poor visibility.

The first semi-annual test of 2024 will take place between January 15-16 from approx. 11:30PM to 4:00AM (weather contingencies on January 17-19) and will involve all runways at Toronto Pearson. It will take approximately 20 minutes per runway.

Pre-approved flights do operate in the overnight hours in accordance with the Night Flight Restriction program in effect between 12:30AM and 6:30AM. However, given that the flight checks will involve flight patterns of repeated approaches for the runways at varying combinations of height, speed, and direction, we wanted to inform you that there might be noise impacts in your riding.

We have already posted the information on our Noise Advisory Calendar, and will also be posting a message on WebTrak.

Affected residents can feel free to reach out to the Toronto Pearson Noise Management Office directly if they have any questions or wish to submit a noise complaint:

  • Online using WebTrak or the complaint form
  • By phone 416-247-7682
