How often do you go to 152nd birthday celebrations? How about when you’re the one getting the gifts? Well that’s what you’re invited to this Canada Day at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Platinum-selling, award-winning, recording artists, Marianas Trench are headlining the mega event on the main stage.
If the hot sun doesn’t keep the stage and the anticipated 100,000 guests warm, music by Logan Staats, Leaving Thomas and Sickick definitely will.
No Canada Day celebration would be complete without the opportunity to remember what it means to be Canadian. The official ceremony will put guests in that proud-to-be-Canadian state of mind as Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Members of Council will lead a reaffirmation oath encouraging attendees to re-confirm their Canadian Citizenship.
Don’t forget your towel for your chance to make an afternoon splash in the fountain sponsored by Alectra. When the sun goes down, the lights get brighter. The celebration of the summer is punctuated with a spectacular fireworks finale at 10:05 p.m. presented by Tim Hortons.
Afternoon hosts, Global News’ Anthony Farnell and Farah Nasser and evening hosts, Antony Robart and ET Canada’s Sangita Patel will host the event which includes a full day of family-friendly entertainment.

Parking and Transportation
With limited access to available parking downtown, event goers are encouraged to carpool, walk, bike or take MiWay. Use MiWay’s Plan a Trip tool on any device at miway.ca/planatrip for customized route and schedule information to get to Celebration Square on time. MiWay will also offer additional trips from the City Centre Transit Terminal following the fireworks on the following routes: 3, 10, 19, 23, 26, 34 and 61. Limited accessible parking is available at the 201 City Centre Dr. parking lot after 3 p.m. and in the Living Arts Centre underground parking lot.
Road Closures
There will be road closures in the downtown core from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on July 1. Areas impacted by the closures are outlined below. The road closure map can be downloaded here.

• Duke of York Boulevard from Burnhamthorpe Road W. to Prince of Wales Drive
• City Centre Drive from Living Arts Drive to Mercer Street
• Princess Royal Drive from Living Arts Drive to Duke of York Boulevard
Closed: July 1 from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• Living Arts Drive from Burnhamthorpe Road W. to Prince of Wales Drive
• Burnhamthorpe Road W. from Confederation Parkway to Hurontario Street
• Kariya Gate from Burnhamthorpe Road W. to City Centre Drive (north-bound lanes only)
Don’t worry about losing power half way through the fun. The City has installed two accessible mobility device charging stations on Celebration Square. One can be found directly in front of the amphitheatre and the other in Legends Row on the west side of the square.
Fireworks
If you plan to set off fireworks in your neighbourhood this Canada Day, visit the City’s website for more information on using fireworks safely on Canada Day.

In 2018, the City installed tree watering bags on street trees that were planted in 2015 and no longer covered by warranty. This year the program will expand to street trees that were planted in 2016.
